NOLA Locavores began as a collaboration between Dr. Leslie Brown, Linda Michurski, and Lee Stafford in an effort to raise awareness of the many benefits of eating locally produced food.

Dr Leslie Brown is a native New Orleanian, vegan activist and founder of the NOLA Veggie Fest.  Her experience with the local growers and producers and the support of the New Orleans vegan community led her to become more involved in the locavore movement.

Linda Michurski comes to N.O. from Minnesota where she became more aware of and more active in groups promoting locally grown organic food.  She managed a health food store and then a farmers coop before moving to New Orleans and becoming involved with Hollygrove Market and Farm.  She is currrently employed at Hollygrove with the task of supplying the areas top restaurants with the freshest local produce.

Lee Stafford, is a community activist, the creator of the Euterpe Recycling Center and is active in the effort to revitalize Central City, New Orleans.

Moses Swent is a lifelong La. hunter / fisherman.  Being raised in Rapides Parish, he has hunted, caught and trapped much of the wildlife Louisiana has to offer.  Moses will be in charge of identifying the seafood and game in the Eat Local Challenge.

Jillian Slane is the director of communications and is a longtime advocate of  the sustainable food movement.

Parisa Zareii is in charge of  local foods research and is in her senior year majoring in pre-med at Tulane University.
